Q4 2026 might bring a long expected new opportunity to investors looking into jurisdictional diversification, as the Argentinian citizenship by investment program is expected to finally go live. The program will offer passports to the whole family, meaning the investor, their spouse, and their children under 25.
Argentinian passport and South American residency
The new Argentinian citizenship by investment program will grant investors and their family members an Argentinian passport, which not only lets you travel to 169 countries around the world without a visa, but also allows hassle-free residency in Mercosur member states (Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia) as well as simplified residency in associated states (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname).
Argentina allows multiple citizenships, so you do not have to renounce your existing citizenships to gain Argentinian citizenship. No additional requirements have been announced either, such as speaking Spanish or minimum stay.
Investment and Donation
Once the program goes live, you will have two routes to Argentinian citizenship:
- USD 350,000 non-refundable contribution to the Treasury of Argentina
- USD 800,000 investment in government bonds developed specifically for the program (maturity and interest rates to be announced)
Whichever option you choose, you are allowed to bring your family along, for an additional contribution.
- Spouse: USD 100,000
- Adult children (aged 18-25): USD 100,000 / person
- Minor children (aged below 18): USD 25,000 / person
For now, there has been no mention of a separate processing fee. At the same time, there is no detailed process description either. That is expected to become public by the time the program launches.
